Program Description:
It’s a significant step for both you and your child when he/she goes off to school for the first time – be it preschool or Kindergarten. The transition can produce many new and mixed emotions. Explore the range of those emotions with Child-Centered Play Therapist, Pamela Schackel, LCSW, LPCC and learn ways to read your child better and maintain a healthy emotional attachment while your family incorporates school into its daily routine.

Biography: For more than 20 years, Pamela, MSW, LCSW, LPCC, has worked with individuals, couples, children and families. Her enjoyment of children led her to specialize in young children and their families. As a Child-Centered Therapist, Pamela utilizes play therapy and sandplay as natural ways for children to express their world and feelings. Through this process children are encouraged to accept responsibility for themselves and to discover, accept and appreciate their own uniqueness. She also utilizes EMDR to decrease anxiety and traumatic memories and bring about positive cognitive restructuring. As a Child Specialist, she works in the Collaborative Divorce process to advocate for children to have a loving relationship with both of their parents.
