Presented in a conversational style with ample room for dialogue, this parent night is intended to offer participants some information and tools for navigating the choppy waters of youth technology use. Erin Doerwald of The Sky Center will be outlining the social emotional, physiological, and developmental concerns to be aware of in the age of digital technology and social media while also discussing its value and what defines healthy use. Sharing current research on rising concerns around youth behavioral health, this presentation offers a critical look at the possible relationship between this new reality and the correlated concerns. It also offers concrete strategies for creating healthy boundaries around digital media use and problem-solving opportunities for participants concerned about their family's relationship with technology, with a careful analysis of its benefits as well as it drawbacks. Elementary school is the perfect time to take a look at the rapids ahead and create clear boundaries for children before digital devices have the potential to dominate children's' lives.
