Still Life, Plein Air Drawing, and Painting with Ms. Melissa (Grades 1st-6th)

Do you like to draw and paint from life? Then you will like still life and plein air drawing and painting with Ms. Melissa. We will explore drawing and painting techniques and practice close observation of natural objects and our beautiful landscape. We will set up outdoors and enjoy painting plein air. Projects will focus on artist inspiration, drawing and watercolor skills and techniques as well as student choice and interest. Educator Bio: Melissa Merritt is the Visual Art educator at the Rio Grande School. Melissa studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she received a B.F.A. in Illustration and an A.A.S. in Jewelry Design. She completed her art specialist certification at Parsons School of Design, New School University, and completed her M.A. in Art and Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Melissa is also a working artist and exhibits her paintings at the Santa Fe Artist market.
