Kristin joined RGS in 1999. This 2018-2019 school term marks the beginning of Kristin’s 28th year in elementary school education. She served as the Lead 4th Grade Educator at RGS for the past 19 years and after going into ‘semi-retirement in June,’ Kristin is happy to begin her 20th year at RGS in a part-time capacity as Educational Consultant . In addition to her position as 4th grade teacher, Kristin regularly served as a mentor teacher and member of several RGS committees and took on many ‘behind the scenes’ responsibilities. Kristin, a native of Staten Island, NY, graduated from Hofstra University in 1990 with a BA cum laude in Elementary Education and Music. She earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Wagner College in 1998, where she won the Graduate Education Department Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Prior to moving to New Mexico, Kristin taught third and fifth grades in New York. Kristin served as a Senior Facilitator for the Schools Attuned Professional Development Program in Santa Fe, is a two time nominee for Disney’s Teacher of the Year Award, regularly mentors new faculty, and is included in multiple editions of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Though teaching is her first passion, Kristin is an avid animal lover and an active volunteer with the Espanola Humane Society. She also enjoys reading and collecting children’s literature, singing, tap dancing, walking, spending time with her pets, and watching baseball games. Let’s go, METS!
