Nigel Taplin joined RGS as the Head of School in 2014. He has more than 40 years of teaching and leadership experience in independent schools throughout the United States and in the United Kingdom. Most recently, Nigel was the Head of Tesseract School, preschool through twelfth grade, in Arizona. During his eleven-year tenure the school experienced significant enrollment growth, the expansion of the program by building a second campus to house the middle school, the addition of an upper school and implementation of its innovative, 21st century curriculum. Prior to Tesseract, Nigel was the assistant head and an educator at Chase Collegiate in Connecticut, where he was responsible for the implementation of the school’s philosophy and mission. He holds a B.Ed from Exeter University in England and a MA in Educational Administration from California State University. Nigel’s interests include educational trends and research, contemporary international affairs, running, cycling, soccer and golf. Nigel and his wife, Susie, have three sons.
