In 2016, April joined the RGS community as a substitute teacher and then moved into the role of Associate Educator in the 3rd grade. She is a licensed child and adolescent psychologist who relocated to Santa Fe in September of 2015 from Miami, Florida. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami. She served as the High School Guidance Counselor for 12 years at Miami Country Day School where she counseled students, ran character education, mindfulness, and peer counseling programs, taught a Life Skills course to 10th graders, led the community service program, and started a Theater for Social Change program. Previous to this, she taught and consulted at a number of private elementary schools, and provided psychological testing and therapy services in private practice. She has two grown sons living in California, one who recently graduated from college and started his first job, and the other who is a sophomore in college. April is thrilled to be part of the Santa Fe community and enjoys hiking and traveling with her husband, dancing and practicing yoga, and volunteering in community service organizations.
