Kerri joined 1999. She received her BA in Studio Art (photography) and Psychology from the College of Santa Fe and, in 2013, she received her MA in Special Education from New Mexico Highlands University. During the past fourteen years at Rio Grande School, Kerri has worked in various positions including Learning Specialist, Summer School Program Director, and Geography Club Coach. Kerri has training in Orton-Gillingham instruction, which involves a multi-sensory and scientific-based approach to teaching reading and spelling. She is a past board member of the Southwest International Dyslexia Association and a current board VP for Rising Stars in the Southwest, a nonprofit youth leadership program. Kerri is also interested in diversity and social equity issues and has presented at the NAIS People of Color Conference. Summer of 2013 she was selected and awarded a grant with 50 teachers from around the country to tour Turkey as part of the Turkish Cultural Foundation’s efforts to give U.S. students a greater understanding of the Turkish culture. Kerri has received various recognitions and awards for her photography, poetry, running, and baking skills--all part of her own diverse portfolio.
